The Black
1997 starts with a bang.  Sixteen teams compete in the Spring Scramble, which is played from the blue tees on the Red Course.  The team of S. Hartman, M. Esposito, F. Magro and Ray Reynolds shoot 63 and win it on a match of cards against the team of A. Sutarno, E. Bodo, H. Roed and J. Burger.  Third place is J. Lewis, S. Meltsner, B. Fullam and B. Ruth who fall short with a 64.  Seventy-one took last place being the high score of the tournament.

The two Man net was contested on the Red Course on May 10th.  Sixteen teams fought for the coveted spot to represent the Club at the Sectionals at Woodmere Country Club.  Jack O' Flynn and D. Murphy shot 65 to run away with the honors.
 
The Pinehurst, two-man alternate shot tournament was played on Saturday, August 23rd on the Green Course.  Twenty-two teams participated on this day and nobody could wrestle the first place from J. Kothe and M. Brice, who shot 67.  Coming in second place were the teams of A. Channin/T. Lukew and M. O' Grady and C. Mea who shot 69.  The high score for the day was 83, which indubitably took last place.

The Club Championship was conquered by the following individuals in their respective flights: G. Shulock trounced A. Sutarno 5 & 4 in the Championship flight; A flight, A. Channin beat R. Eklund 3 & 2; B flight, J. Kothe beat F. Sallie 2 & 1 and in the C flight, D. Jaeckel bested M. Cooperstock 2 & 1.

The Fall Scramble took place on September 28th from the Blue Tees of the Red Course.  Fifteen teams competed in this tournament with the first place honors going to J. Booth, G. Thorsen, E. Bodo and C. Mea who as a team shot a 58.  Second place with a 59 went to M. O' Grady, S. De Paulo, M. Benado and D. Murphy.  Third place with a 60 went to M. Gamblin, G. Civiello, R. Eklund and P. Joyce.
